Umar Gul’s record falls as Pakistan spinner creates history in Bulawayo

Zimbabwe actually made a bright start to the match after they won the toss and elected to bat, with Brian Bennett (21) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (16) putting on 37 for the opening wicket inside five overs before Abbas Afridi (2/2) made the initial breakthrough.

Afridi got the big scalp of Sikandar Raza for three in his next over as the rot began to set in, with Sufiyan wreaking havoc throughout his 16 deliveries to exceed Gul and Wasim’s figures and claim the record for a Pakistan bowler.

Pakistan wasted no time in chasing down the runs, with Saim Ayub (36*) and Omair Yousuf (22*) requiring just 5.3 overs to reach the victory target and ensure the side opened up a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

The third and final match of the series will be held in Bulawayo on Thursday.
