THAILAND LOSE AGAIN AS WEST INDIES MISS OUT ON WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

Thailand Women have found the step up to ODI cricket against quality teams too great as they finished last out of six in the World Cup Qualifier in Lahore with no wins.

But it was agony for West Indies as they failed to qualify by the narrowest of margins after needing to score 167 in 10 overs.

Natthakan Chantam hit her second fifty of the tournament as Thailand reached 166 but West Indies just had 10 overs to reach their target and came close thanks to Hayley Matthews making 70 from 29 balls.

But it is Bangladesh who join Pakistan as qualifiers for the next Women’s World Cup in India.

Thailand will return to T20 cricket when they play in the Asia Qualifiers in Bangkok next month. They have the T20 World Cup to set their sights on next.
